More than 100 professors of architecture and ingeniering from all over the world are manifesting their oppositiong against the construction of the tunnel for a high speed train next the the Sagrada Familia.

The Spanish branch of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (Icomos), which advises Unesco, has launched a campaign to block the plan. "The twin track tunnel, as planned, will run some 25 m below ground under the water table in a layer of sand and weak clay. Its crown will be over 8 m below the surface, and some 6 m to one side of perimeter piles helping support the south facade, the last still under construction. (...) In the absence of guarantees against ground movements, the cathedral builders are concerned about possible structural damage as its enters its last decade under construction."
